China has sanctioned at least 13 American defense firms and six executives over arms sales to Taiwan, which Beijing considers a ‘breakaway province’.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian said, “Taiwan independence and peace in the Taiwan Straits are fundamentally incompatible. The US insistence on using force to support Taiwan’s independence cannot change China’s firm determination to oppose Taiwan independence and achieve national unification.”
US President Joe Biden’s administration, in its last days in office, had approved at least 17 arms sales to Taipei since 2021, “much to Beijing’s chagrin”.
US firms and executives sanctioned by Beijing include
- Teledyne Brown Engineering
- BRINC Drones
- Rapid Flight LLC
- Red Six Solutions
- Shield AI
- SYNEXXUS
- Firestorm Labs
- Kratos Unmanned Aerial Systems
- HavocAI
- Neros Technologies
- Cyberlux Corporation
- Domo Tactical Communications
- Group W.
These are among the executives targeted by China:
- Barbara Borgonovi
- Gerard Hueber
- Charles Woodburn
- Richard D. Crawford
- Beth Edler
- Blake Resnick
The Foreign Ministry announced that their assets in China will be frozen, Chinese entities will be banned from doing business with sanctioned individuals, and sanctioned executives will be banned from entering China, including Hongkong and Macau.
