Phone call from George Clooney to Biden for his wife Amal

It was revealed that actor George Clooney called the White House and called US President Joe Biden for his wife, lawyer Amal Clooney.

Amal Clooney had signed the International Criminal Court chief prosecutor’s motion demanding the arrest of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for war crimes along with Hamas leaders, a move the US President described as “outrageous”.

A furious Biden insisted that there was no “moral equivalence” between Israel and Hamas and hinted at sanctions against the court that could lead to the deportation of Clooney’s wife from the United States, the Washington Post reported. The Oscar-winning actor vented his anger after connecting with Biden’s senior adviser Steve Ricchetti. “I do not accept that any conflict is outside the scope of the law, nor do I accept that any perpetrator is above the law,” he said in a statement.

The Clooney couple donated more than $500,000 to Biden’s 2020 election campaign and hosted an online fundraiser that contributed $7 million to the 2020 war chest.

The Israeli government has been accused of ‘using starvation as a method of warfare, along with other attacks and collective punishment against the civilian population in Gaza’. When it emerged that Amal Clooney, a renowned human rights lawyer, was one of six legal experts who helped British prosecutor Karim Khan reach his verdict, the Clooney Foundation issued a statement saying, “I support the historic step taken by the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court to bring justice to victims of atrocities in Israel and Palestine.”

“As a human rights lawyer, I will never accept that the life of one child is worth less than the life of another. I do not accept that any conflict is outside the scope of the law or that any perpetrator is above the law,” Clooney said.
