The US sanctioned three UAE-based shipping companies for transporting Iranian oil. The number of ships included in the sanctions was 11.
According to the decision taken by the US State Department, Al Anchor Ship Management FZE, Almanac Ship Management LLC and Sea Route Ship Management FZE are the sanctioned companies. A total of 11 ships have been sanctioned under Executive Order 13846.
Washington reimposed economic sanctions against Tehran in 2018 after then-President Donald Trump’s administration withdrew from a deal aimed at denuclearizing the Middle East power.
Al Anchor Ship Management was sanctioned as the commercial manager of the Parine vessel. “In late October 2022, Al Anchor Ship Management FZE knowingly carried out a significant transaction for the transportation of petroleum products from Iran by the vessel PARINE,” the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
The Berenice Pride, also accused of transporting Iranian oil products in October 2022, was found to be under the commercial management of Almanac Ship Management.
Sea Route Ship Management was confirmed as the commercial manager of the Astra. Other vessels associated with the three companies are Arabian Energy, Baltic Horizon, Euro Fortune, Euro Viking, Harmony, Nile, Road and Yamuna.
All other property and property rights owned by the three companies in the US or owned by US entities were blocked.
“In addition, all entities that are owned, directly or indirectly, 50 percent or more by one or more blocked persons are also blocked,” the Foreign Ministry said.
