US sanctions on Iranian oil ships

The United States announced sanctions against some Iranian ships with a resolution signed by Secretary of State Anthony Blinken.

“Iran’s actions to expand its enrichment capacity are even more alarming in light of Iran’s continued non-cooperation with the IAEA and statements by Iranian officials suggesting possible changes to Iran’s nuclear doctrine,” the resolution signed by Anthony Blinken stated.

In response to this ongoing nuclear escalation, the United States has taken action against entities and vessels involved in Iran’s oil and petrochemical trade, the State Department said, imposing sanctions on three entities involved in the transportation of Iranian oil and petrochemical products and designating 11 vessels associated with these entities as blocked property.

The decision, signed by Anthony Blinken, reads as follows: “We remain committed to never allowing Iran to obtain a nuclear weapon, and we are prepared to use all elements of our national power to ensure that outcome. As President Biden and other G7 leaders stated earlier this month, Iran must end its escalation of its nuclear program and other destabilizing actions.”
