Lithuanian customs fined a Lithuanian company 329,944 euros for purchasing products subject to international restrictions from Russian firms.
The protocol for the unnamed company was published on Tuesday, while the Lithuanian Customs Service announced that this was the first time such a step had been taken.
The Lithuanian-registered company imported goods from Russian enterprises Nizhnekamskekhuglerod and Nizhnekamskneftekhim, which are subject to sanctions.
The Lithuanian Parliament extended national sanctions against Russian and Belarusian citizens for one year and rejected proposals to tighten existing restrictions.
Sanctions extended by one year
The Lithuanian government had proposed in February to extend the restrictive measures against Russian and Belarusian citizens for another year due to the continuation of the large-scale war that Russia launched against Ukraine on February 24, 2022 and the unchanged grounds of the law approved last year.
Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda wants the fourteenth round of sanctions against Russia to include state-owned Rosatom, as well as aluminum and more Russian banks. Last year, the Lithuanian Customs Service announced that it had completely eliminated imports of Russian and Belarusian timber and forestry products, bypassing sanctions imposed by Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan.
