UK restricts Russia’s future LNG plans

The UK has imposed sanctions on 5 vessels and 2 entities operating in Russia’s Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) sector.

The UK’s latest step builds on efforts with allies to block Russian President Vladimir Putin’s attempts to boost Russia’s future energy revenues, the most critical source of funding for his war in Ukraine.

Action has been taken to sanction 5 vessels and 2 associated organisations involved in the transport of Russian LNG, including Russia’s flagship Arctic LNG 2 project.

Earlier this year, the UK, together with its allies in the US and the EU, imposed sanctions on Arctic LNG 2. Since then, the project has been forced to cut production.

The sanctioned vessels are as follows:
Pioneer (IMO 9256602)
Asia Energy (IMO 9216298)
Nova Energy (IMO 9324277)
Northern Sky (IMO 9953523)
Scf La Perouse (IMO 9849887)

Sanctions were also imposed on the following organisations associated with the vessels:

Ocean Speedstar Solutions OPC – operator and manager of Pioneer and Asia Energy.

White Fox Ship Management  – operator and manager of Northern Sky.
