Beijing to sanction 3 US military organisations

China’s Foreign Ministry announced that it decided to impose sanctions on three companies and 10 senior executives linked to the US military industry after Washington announced that it would provide arms aid to China’s Taiwan region.

According to a statement from the White House, US President Joe Biden announced that he had approved $567 million in defence support to Taiwan, including ‘Department of Defense defence products and services and military training and education’.

‘This move seriously violates the one-China principle and the three Sino-US joint declarations, seriously interferes in China’s internal affairs, and seriously harms China’s sovereignty and territorial integrity,’ the Foreign Ministry said.

The three US companies sanctioned are Edge Autonomy Operations LLC, Huntington Ingalls Industries Inc and Skydio Inc.

China will freeze the movable, immovable and other types of property of these companies in China and ‘prohibit organisations and individuals in China from conducting transactions, cooperation and other activities related to these companies’, the ministry said.

For the 10 senior executives sanctioned, including Steven Roger Rudder, founder of Stick Rudder Enterprises, China will freeze their movable, immovable and other property in the country.
